I turned 40. Yes F.O.R.T.Y. How in the world did I go from being 21 to 40 so flipping fast? I have a wonderful life. I’ve been married to my husband (that also happened to be my very first boyfriend when I moved to Houston at 13 years old) for 17 years. We have 3 beautiful children…Thomas (age 11), Finley (age 9), and Max (age 8)—and one dog (she is 7 months and is a Schion (Bishon/Schitzu mix). We live in a real life “Truman Show” kinda neighborhood. Our kids are protected by “the gates”—there is actually a reason I love the “gatekeepers”—more on that later. Our neighbors are all friends. For the most part we all go to the same church, our kids are in school and play sports together, we honestly do “Life” with our neighbors…imagine that!!! My husband is super smart (and I happen to also find him over the top handsome)…I always tell him how lucky I am that after being in love for so long it amazes me that he can touch the back of my arm and STILL give me goosebumps (and butterflies)! If you look at us from the outside (or on social media)—you might think we have a nearly perfect life. Haaaaaaa. But…if I’m being honest—it is actually pretty perfect. I say that because at 40 I feel like I have finally realized that a “perfect life” looks perfect because the people in that life are completely at peace with where they are at this very moment. I know, I know. It’s cheezy. But, friend, it’s true. Life has not been easy. But the uneasy parts are the ingredients for truly relishing the easy, the good and the non eventful, quiet moments.
